President Arif Alvi signed the summary of appointment of Army Chief and Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee.

After the President’s signature, General Asim Munir has been appointed as the new Chief of Army Staff and General Sahir Shamshad Mirza as the new Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee.

President Arif Alvi called the nominated Army Chief General Asim Munir to the President’s House for a meeting at 7 pm. The Army Chief and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee will meet the President separately.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan decided to appoint General Sahir Shamshad Mirza as Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff and General Syed Asim Munir as Chief of Army Staff using the constitutional powers, the summary of which was sent to the President of Pakistan.

It should be noted that General Syed Asim Munir will be the first Army Chief in Pakistan’s military history who has headed two intelligence agencies, ISI and Military Intelligence.

He will be the first Quartermaster General who has been appointed Army Chief, not only that, Hafiz Syed Asim Munir will be the first Army Chief who will not be from the Pakistan Military Academy Long Course but will be an OTS commissioned officer.
