Islamabad Council of Common Interests approves new census.

A meeting of the Council of Common Interests was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan in which the Chief Ministers of the four provinces and other members participated.

The meeting reviewed the recommendations of the Attorney General regarding the establishment of a permanent secretariat of the Council of Common Interests for conducting the 7th Census.

A Statement issued after the meeting, the Council of Common Interests approved the conduct of the seventh census in the country. The census will be conducted through digital technology.

The Council of Common Interests also approved setting up of a census monitoring committee. Committee will be headed by Deputy Chairman Planning Chief Secretaries Chairman NADRA and others. Committee will monitor the census activities.

On occasion PM said that he was committed to resolving national issues in consultation with all federal units and stakeholders.

Congratulating the members on the establishment of the Permanent Secretariat of the Council of Common Interests, he said that the Permanent Secretariat reflects the spirit of cooperation between the Federal and Provincial Governments.

PM said that the number of meetings of the Council of Common Interests could be increased as per the demands of the provinces.

The government wants to get reliable census data that will be used to launch policies and plans for the welfare of citizens.
