Government decides to amend ECP Code of Conduct.

According to Pakipolitas, the summary has been sent by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. The ban on the announcement of development schemes will remain in place. Under the clause, the federal cabinet and elected members will be able to participate in the election campaign and address meetings.

The law ministry also supported the summary of parliamentary affairs in the document. The Election Commission has formulated a code of conduct for political parties, candidates and polling agents. There are various restrictions on participation.

The document states that local body elections are taking place across the country. During local body elections, political parties should be allowed to advertise their manifesto in the public interest. Article 19 of the constitution gives freedom of expression to any person. Article 25 of the Constitution gives all political parties the right to equal opportunities in the election campaign. Article 19A of the Constitution also gives the public the right to information.

Document the people have the right to get information about the party manifesto from the candidates. The Election Act 2017 needs to be amended.
