Beijing China has tested its space capability with a hypersonic missile.

The report quoted a foreign news agency as saying that Beijing had launched a nuclear-capable missile in August.

Beijing fired a nuclear-capable missile into space in August, orbiting the planet in low orbit and moving towards its target.

FT sources said that the hypersonic glide vehicle was taken by a long march rocket. Such a launch is usually announced but the August test was kept secret.

The report added that China’s progress on hypersonic weapons had shocked US intelligence.

The missile was reportedly capable of delivering a nuclear weapon and could fly at five times the speed of sound, but the Pentagon did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

In addition to China, the United States, Russia and at least five other countries are working on the technology.

According to a recent report by the US Congressional Research Service (CRS), China is aggressively developing technology.
