According to sources, the selection on EVM will be included in the Local Bodies Act.
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar approved the inclusion of election provision on EVM machine in the Local Bodies Act.
He said that the federal government has made a law and Punjab government will also make EVM a part of Local Bodies Act.
On the other hand, a meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Internet and Electronic Voting Machine was held under the chairmanship of Shibli Faraz in which Babar Awan Forough Naseem and Aminul Haq participated.
Speaking to media after the meeting, Federal Minister Shibli Faraz, who heads the committee, said that the federal government has announced full cooperation with the Election Commission regarding the implementation of EVM and i-voting. Will cooperate in every possible way.
He said that the government would co-operate with the Election Commission on other requirements including financial storage testing laboratories.
It may be recalled that the Electronic Voting Machine Bill, introduced by the government in the joint sitting of Parliament, was passed despite strong opposition and commotion.
