At least 11 people have been killed and 11 others injured in an explosion at Sui Gas Line in Sher Shah area of Karachi.
According to police, the blast took place in a gas pipeline at Sher Shah Paracha Chowk, causing severe damage to a private bank building. The blast was heard far and wide and damaged other nearby buildings besides the private bank.
Rescue sources said 13 people were injured in the blast and were taken to hospital.
Head of Trauma Center Sabir Memon said that the bodies of 8 people killed in Karachi blast and 11 injured were brought to the hospital out of which the condition of 4 injured is very critical. Later 3 more people succumbed to their injuries.
All the injured have upper body injuries.
Immediately after the blast, law enforcement officials rushed to the scene and began gathering evidence, and a bomb disposal squad launched an investigation into the nature of the blast.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has expressed regret over the loss of life and property in the Karachi blast and demanded a report from the Commissioner Karachi.
