ISLAMABAD: The Law Ministry has issued a notification for the appointment of Justice Umar Ata Bandial as Chief Justice of Pakistan.

CJ Umar Ata Bandial is the most senior judge of the Supreme Court. Justice Umar Ata Bandial will assume office on February 2.

The Ministry of Law and Justice has issued the notification after the approval of President Arif Ali.

CJ of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed will retire on February 1 after which Justice Umar Ata Bandial will take oath as Chief Justice on February 2.

Umar Ata Bandial will take oath on February 2, 2022 at the age of 63 years, four months and 16 days, one year, six months and 25 days till September 16, 2023.
