Under the new social media rules, Pakistan Telecommunication PTA has started registration of social media companies to monitor online content. PTA has requested registration forms through email and postal address.
PTA officials said that the details related to the launch of the company would have to be disclosed to the number of customers in Pakistan.
The grievance redressal officer will also have to be appointed along with the permit application. Companies with 500,000 subscribers will have to submit a separate form. Companies that do not remove objectionable material will be liable to a fine of up to Rs 500 million.
