Ex PM Imran Khan was disqualified in the Islamabad Toshah Khana reference.

In the Election Commission a five-member bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja heard the Tosha Khana reference against former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Election Commission declared the former Prime Minister Imran Khan ineligible while pronouncing the Toshah Khana reference decision.

The Election Commission Bench decided that Imran Khan’s seat in the National Assembly is declared vacant as he is guilty of corrupt practices.

Election Commission also ordered to register a criminal case against Imran Khan.
The security of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was further tightened on the occasion while heavy contingent of Punjab Rangers FC and police was deployed to deal with any eventuality.

August in 2022, the Speaker National Assembly had sent the Tosha Khana reference to the Election Commission for the disqualification of Imran Khan. The charge was laid.

Imran Khan rejected the allegations and said that the reference is under the jurisdiction of Election Commission and cannot be heard there, this reference is made for political purposes.

Imran Khan, in his reply submitted to the Election Commission, had taken a stand that the reference was under the jurisdiction of the Election Commission and could not be heard there.

Later the Election Commission reserved its decision on the Tosha Khana reference on September 19.
