Afghanistan made history by reaching the semi-finals.

In the last stage of the ICC T20 World Cup Super 8 played in Kingstown, West Indies, Afghanistan successfully and bravely defended a small target. They bowled out the Bangladesh team, who were chasing 116 runs, for 105 runs in the 18th over, winning the match by 8 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method and securing a ticket to the semi-finals.

Repeated rain interruptions during the match did not dampen the hunger for victory of the Afghan team. With this win, Afghanistan ended the World Cup journey of former world champions Australia, who will return home empty-handed and with the wound of defeat.

Afghan captain Rashid Khan created a breakthrough in the Bengal Tigers’ batting line-up, cleaning up the middle order and making the target of 116 impossible to reach.

He successfully took four wickets for 23 runs. However, Naveen-ul-Haq was named the player of the match for taking key wickets at the beginning and in the thrilling final moments of the game. Naveen took four wickets for 26 runs.
