The initial edition of PSL took place in 2016 in which Islamabad United under the leadership of Misbah-ul-Haq made history by defeating Quetta Gladiators and lifting the first trophy.
In the second edition, Quetta Gladiators lost again and Peshawar Zalmi won the trophy under the leadership of Darren Sammy.
In the third edition of PSL, Islamabad team won for the second time. Under the leadership of JP Dominy, Islamabad team won the final.
In the fourth edition, Peshawar Zalmi lost for the second time in a row and Quetta Gladiators captain Sarfraz Ahmed picked up the trophy.
In the fifth edition of PSL Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars reached the final for the first time. Under the leadership of Emad Wasim, Karachi Kings won the trophy.
Sixth edition Multan Sultans team led by Muhammad Rizwan reached the final and won the trophy by defeating Peshawar Zalmi.
