Addressing the inaugural function, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that Karachi is an important city in terms of economy. A city leads them in the growth rate of developed countries. London in England, New York in USA and Karachi is an important city for Pakistan.

He said that everyone knows what happened in Karachi in 1970. When Karachi started taking off in the 80’s, there was chaos in it. The importance of Karachi was not fully appreciated. Its transport system would have been important for any city. Yes, the whole country will be able to benefit from Karachi’s CR. The KCR Green Line is a big step for Karachi and as Karachi is expanding, we have to do more.

He said that the biggest problem in Karachi is water. WAPDA chairman said that water will be supplied to Karachi through K4 in 2 years. Sindh benefits and we will talk more about it.

The Prime Minister said that he was happy that work has started on the problems caused by floods in Karachi last year and work on 3 major canals has also been completed. Have to go

The Prime Minister was accompanied by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi and Federal Minister for Railways Azam Khan Swati.

Committee Executive of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved the Karachi Circular Railway project to address transport issues in Karachi.

The federal government’s thinking, the circular railway is not only being rehabilitated but also being expanded and modernized. Thirty stations of the modern circular railway will connect residential, industrial and office areas. There will be less but also convenience for the passengers. Electric trains are also part of this project which will help in reducing pollution.
The spokesperson of Pakistan Railways, no gate will be constructed on Karachi Circular Railway due to which trains will run at a speed of 80 km per hour while each train will have a capacity of 814 passengers.

The length of KCR track will be 43 km and 33 stations will be constructed. This project will be completed in 18 to 24 months. The circular railway will run on two tracks.
The circular train will run from City Station and the site will reach back to City Station via Gulshan-e-Iqbal Gulistan-e-Jauhar. There will be 30 train stops along the way. Several underpasses will also be constructed along the train route.

It may be recalled that Pakistan Railways is making a significant effort to revive the mass transport project in Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city, which was closed 21 years ago.

It should be noted that KCR was started in 1964 from the Drug Road Station in Karachi to the city center. Later, Pakistan Railways ran it at a loss for many years and after major economic losses, it was finally shut down completely by Pakistan Railways authorities in 1999.
