QUETTA: Construction work on two dams Babar Kuch and Burj Aziz is underway in Balochistan to meet the water needs of the people.

According to reports, two dams are being constructed in Balochistan, one of which is Babar Kutch Dam and the other is Burj Aziz Dam.

Babar Kutch Dam will be constructed on the river Nari, 35 km from Sibi Town. The construction of this dam will meet the water needs of the surrounding villages and Quetta.

Feasibility of the project, which will help in storing flood water in Babar Kutch Dam, has been sent to the federal government for approval.

The second dam, Bridge Aziz, will be built 58km northwest of Quetta.

A meeting on projects of Babar Kutch and Burj Aziz dams was held in Quetta today under the chairmanship of Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal in which Provincial Minister PHE Noor Mohammad Damar and other officials participated. A briefing was given on

The Chief Minister of Balochistan on the occasion said that construction of dams for storage of water is essential in Balochistan. Balochistan is an ideal province for the construction of dams for which the catchment area is very large.

He directed the concerned authorities to focus on the construction of dam structure in the first phase and to design Babar Kutch Dam keeping in view the irrigation.
