Lahore Qalandars fate not changed at home ground, Multan Sultans win by 5 wickets

LAHORE: In the third match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Multan Sultans defeated Lahore Qalandar by 5 wickets, Sultanz bowled brilliantly and smashed Qalandars’ batting line.

In the match played at the Gadhafi Stadium in Lahore, Multan Sultans decided to field by winning the toss against the Lahore Qalandars, the Lahore Qalandars started the innings by Fakhzman and Chris Lane, both openers taking all the Sultans bowlers in half. Raining sixes and setting up an opening contribution of 59 runs, Chris Lane was dismissed for 39, while Fakhzman also made a poor shot and scored 19 runs in the Pavilion. When Ben Dink Pavilion was forced to return as a result of misunderstandings between the wickets.

Mohammed Hafeez appeared to be struggling consistently and Imran Tahir got on the ball with a catch to the rival captain, he scored 14 off 22 balls. Harris Rauf, along with the rest of the batsmen, returned without adding much to the run. However, skipper Sohail Akhtar tried to resist the Multan Sultans’ bowlers and scored 34 runs, which gave the Lahore Qalandars 138 for 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Multan Sultans Moin Ali, Imran Tahir and Mohammed Elias were dismissed for two wickets each while Sohail Tanvir could get only one wicket.

In pursuit of an easy target, Multan Sultan’s captain Sean Masood and James Venus started the batting, Venus aggressively allowing just 18 runs off 9 balls and Shaheen Shah Afridi was dismissed. Moin Ali, who came from the England team, could not stay on the crease too late and was bowled out for 11 off 8 balls. Returned to play Fourth wicket Gary Zeeshan Ashraf’s Gree who scored four runs in 7 balls were dismissed by Harris Roof. Rally Russo returned to Pavilion for Harris Roof 32 off 28 balls.

The Multan Sultans achieved the target of 5 wickets in the 17th over. Khushald Shah 6 and Shahid Afridi scored 21 runs. Shaheen Afridi, Harris Roof and David Wise grabbed one wicket each from Lahore Qalandars. The Karachi Kings defeated Peshawar Zalmi by 10 runs in the first match played at the National Stadium in Karachi today. ..
