Pakistan-built Hangur class submarines are equipped with Air Independent Propulsion System.
Sources said that Hangur class submarine is being manufactured in China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation.
The first Hangur class submarine will join the Pakistan Navy after the completion of launching and sea trials next year, while 7 other Hangur class submarines will join the Pakistan Navy one after the other.
An agreement was signed between Pakistan and China in 2015 for the production of 8 Hangur class submarines, under which 4 Hangur class submarines are being manufactured in China and 4 at Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works.
The production of Hangur class submarines is one of the biggest defense contracts in Pakistan’s history, the Hangur class submarines being commissioned by Pakistan are equipped with Air Independent Propulsion System.
