According to the details, the cipher case was heard in the court established under the Official Secrets Act in Adiala Jail.
The court sentenced founder PTI and Shah Mehmood Qureshi to 10 years in prison respectively.
The prosecution team of FIA succeeded in proving the crime in the case, the special court said that the prosecution had solid evidence to prove the crime.
Three special prosecutors of FIA Raja Rizwan, Zulfiqar Abbas and Shah Khawar were appointed in this case, various provisions were registered against the founder of PTI and Shah Mahmood Qureshi, while Shah Mahmood Qureshi was accused of aiding and abetting in the cipher case.
In the previous hearing, PTI founder and Shah Mehmood Qureshi were given a questionnaire for statement under Section 342. Answers to 36 questions were asked from them in the questionnaire.
The court completed the cross-examination of the statements of eleven more witnesses, after which the cross-examination of all the twenty-five witnesses was completed.
During the 14-hour hearing, ex-Foreign Secretary Sohail Mehmood, ex-Principal Secretary Azam Khan, ex-Secretary Interior Yusuf Naseem Khokhar, Interior Secretary Aftab Akbar Durrani and ex-Ambassador Asad Majeed were also cross-examined.
During the cross-examination, Shah Mehmood Qureshi objected to the State Defense Council, on which the court said that you should sit down, otherwise you will be removed from the courtroom.
Founder PTI and Shah Mehmood expressed their lack of confidence in the judge. Lawyer Salman Safdar said that it has become difficult to go along with the court in the current situation.
Even after cross-examining the witnesses, it is impossible, the Supreme Court in its decision said for a quick trial, it did not say that it should go on daily.
On which the judge Abul Hasnat said that when the accused are in jail, hearings are held on a daily basis, then Shah Mahmood said, “Judge, even if bail is granted, we have to stay inside, you also have to answer to Allah, while the founder PTI said, “I have arrived. Please confirm my attendance. The fixed match is going on. What will I do here?”
