Beef Painda, a traditional dish from Pakistan.
Ingredients.
1 kg beef, preferably with bones
1 cup rice flour
1 cup wheat flour
1 cup yogurt
2 onions, finely chopped
2 tomatoes, chopped
4-5 green chilies, chopped
1 tablespoon ginger paste
1 tablespoon garlic paste
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1 teaspoon cumin powder.
Salt to taste
Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Ghee or oil for cooking.
Instructions.
Large pot in add the beef along with enough water to cover it. Cook until the beef is tender and can easily be shredded.
This may take about 1-2 hours depending on the cut of beef and your cooking method (pressure cooker or stovetop).
Once the beef is cooked, shred it into small pieces using a fork or your hands. Set aside.
In a separate bowl, mix together rice flour, wheat flour, yogurt, onions, tomatoes, green chilies, garlic ginger paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt.
Its will form a thick paste.
Add the shredded beef to the paste mixture and mix well until all the beef pieces are coated evenly.
Grease a large, deep baking dish or pan with ghee or oil. Beef mixture spread evenly in the dish.
Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil or a lid to seal in the flavors.
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake the painda for about 1-1.5 hours, or until the top is golden brown and the flavors are well combined.
After make it cool for a few minutes before serving.
With fresh coriander garnish leaves and serve hot with naan or rice.
