ISLAMABAD: The government has announced the opening of 9th to 12th class schools from January 18 and primary to 8th class schools from January 25 across the country.

According to details, a meeting of inter-provincial education ministers was held under the chairmanship of Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood in which the provincial education ministers and other officials participated through video link.

After the meeting, Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood in a press conference announced the opening of educational institutions across the country in three phases.

Shafqat Mahmood said that schools from 9th to 12th class will be opened from January 18, schools from primary to 8th class from January 25, while higher education institutions including universities will be opened from February 1.

Referring to the board examinations, the education minister said that the board examinations would now be held in May and June while the school administration and teachers would be able to perform their duties from January 11.

He said that the first priority of the government is the health of children and no compromise can be made on the health of children.
A review meeting will also be held on January 14 or 15.

Dr. Faisal Sultan, Special Assistant for Health, said in a press conference that the second wave of Corona has come to a halt. The halt was directly related to the closure of educational institutions. Delay is necessary as a precaution.

Private Schools Supreme Council welcomes government’s decision
On the other hand, the Supreme Council of Private Schools welcomed the decision of the government and said that the decision to open schools is welcome.
