According to the report, two projects worth Rs 3 billion have been signed for Sindh under the Federal Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication.
The total cost of both the projects will be more than Rs. 3 billion, on completion of which more than 4.7 million people of 140 union councils of different areas of Sukkur, Khairpur, Ghotki and Kashmore districts will be able to access fast internet facilities.
The agreements were signed by Haris Mahmood Chaudhry, CEO, Universal Service Fund, IT Ministry and Nadeem Khan, Acting CEO, PTCL.
With the completion of the projects, 372 educational institutions, 170 health centers, 217 government offices and 131 banks within a radius of 5 sq km in the said districts will be connected to the fastest internet service.
Federal Minister Syed Amin-ul-Haq said that the process of providing IT services to the rural areas of Sindh is underway and more than Rs. 6 billion is being spent on fiber optics in Sindh.
He said that the government is also working on e-parliament. After June 30, talent will be hung on every seat in the parliament.
The Federal Minister said that Pakistan’s IT exports have increased due to the Corona epidemic. In the year 2018-19, the IT exports were کروڑ 995 million while in the year 2019-20, the exports of IT have reached ارب 1.23 billion. Exports increased by 24%.
