Invitation to talk to government social media companies

ISLAMABAD: The government of Pakistan has taken a major decision on revising the social media regulatory rules and invited social media companies to hold talks.
According to the spokesman, the government of Pakistan has invited major social media companies, Google, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other companies to participate in the consultation process to review the social media regulatory rules. According to spokesperson PTA, Chairman PTA Amir Azim Bajwa wrote a letter to the MD of the Asian Internet Coalition which invited social media companies to negotiate.

The letter text states that members of the AIC engage in consultation, directly or via video conference, as part of the consultation process on the Asian Internet Coalition Protection Roles. In the letter, the spokesperson also requested the IIC and its members to speak with the Advisory Committee.

Remember that major social media companies have expressed reservations over the new social media rules.
