According to the details, the Special Assistant for Health informed the Cabinet about the procedure for obtaining the vaccine, to whom the vaccine would be given first, and the cost of the medicine used to treat corona was also discussed.
The Special Assistant for Health said that special drugs are being used to prevent coronary heart disease in different cases.
Its price in Pakistan was Rs 9,000 but today its price has been reduced by Rs 4,000 after which the drug will now be available at Rs 5,000.
He asked which vaccine to take in the cabinet meeting
A sum of 150 150 million has been earmarked for the vaccine, whose quality and terms were also discussed.
The Special Assistant for Health said the coronavirus vaccine would be given to frontline medical staff on a first-come, first-served basis, with the elderly being the second priority. Similarly, in the third phase, ordinary citizens will be vaccinated.
Dr. Faisal Sultan said that a committee is being formed to keep the arrangements for procurement of vaccines transparent which will determine everything.
He said that various companies have been shortlisted for the vaccine and talks have started with them. All options for the vaccine, including Western manufacturers and China, are under consideration.
Dr. Faisal Sultan further said that the corona vaccine will reach Pakistan by the first quarter of 2021 and then after that its distribution will start on priority basis.
Regarding the increase in the prices of medicines, the Special Assistant said that “there are 94 medicines whose prices have gone up due to their extinction”.
